Grievance Handling Procedures in Singareni Colories Ltd(Sccl)

Abstract

The present study focuses on the grievance handling procedures followed in The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and their role in maintaining healthy industrial relations within the organization. Grievance handling is an essential aspect of human resource management that helps employees express their complaints, dissatisfaction, and work-related issues in a systematic manner. Effective grievance handling procedures contribute to employee satisfaction, improved morale, higher productivity, and organizational harmony.The main objective of the study is to analyze the existing grievance handling mechanisms adopted by SCCL and to evaluate their effectiveness in resolving employee grievances. The study also aims to identify the common causes of grievances among employees and examine the level of employee satisfaction regarding the grievance redressal process. Both primary and secondary data sources are used for the study. Primary data is collected through questionnaires and interactions with employees, while secondary data is gathered from company reports, journals, books, and official records.The findings of the study reveal that SCCL has established formal grievance handling procedures that provide employees with opportunities to communicate their problems to higher authorities. The organization follows a structured approach in resolving grievances through supervisors, departmental heads, and grievance committees. However, certain delays in grievance resolution and communication gaps were identified during the study. The research suggests that timely response, transparent communication, employee awareness programs, and improved management-employee relationships can further strengthen the grievance handling system.The study concludes that an effective grievance handling procedure plays a vital role in promoting employee confidence and maintaining cordial industrial relations in SCCL. Proper grievance management not only helps in resolving employee issues efficiently but also contributes to organizational growth and employee welfare.
