Performance appraisal has evolved from being a routine administrative exercise into a strategic human resource tool that directly contributes to employee development and organizational success. This study examines performance appraisal systems as mechanisms for evaluating employee performance, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and aligning individual goals with organizational objectives. The research emphasizes the importance of fair, transparent, and systematic appraisal processes that not only measure past performance but also encourage continuous learning, skill development, and career growth. Findings highlight that organizations leveraging performance appraisal as a strategic HR practice achieve improved employee engagement, enhanced productivity, and sustainable talent management. Thus, performance appraisal is positioned not merely as an evaluative process but as a cornerstone of human resource development in dynamic organizational environments.
