Abstract

Electronic waste (E-waste) is one of the fastest-growing waste streams worldwide due to rapid technological advancements, increased consumer demand, and shorter product life cycles. Improper disposal of electronic devices leads to serious environmental pollution and health hazards because of toxic substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and brominated flame retardants. Effective e-waste management and segregation are therefore essential to promote sustainable development and environmental protection. This project proposes an intelligent E-Waste Management and Segregation System designed to improve the collection, classification, and recycling process of discarded electronic products. The system integrates IoT sensors, image processing techniques, and machine learning algorithms to automatically identify and categorize ewaste into different groups such as reusable components, recyclable materials, and hazardous waste. A centralized database maintains records of collected waste, enabling efficient tracking, reporting, and analysis. The implementation of this project contributes to smarter waste management infrastructure and promotes responsible electronic consumption, ultimately helping to reduce environmental pollution and conserve valuable resources.
