Abstract

The rapid growth of the internet and mobile technology has dramatically transformed the global retail landscape. Electronic commerce (eCommerce) has become an indispensable channel through which businesses and consumers interact, negotiate, and transact. This paper presents the design, development, and implementation of "Online Shopping Alphaware," a comprehensive web-based eCommerce platform developed using PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap 4, and JavaScript. Online Shopping Alphaware is a full-featured shopping application that allows customers to browse an extensive product catalogue, add items to a dynamic shopping cart, manage their personal accounts, and complete purchases through an integrated PayPal payment gateway. The system also provides a robust administrative dashboard enabling administrators to manage products (add, update, delete, view), oversee customer registrations, track orders, process transactions, and respond to customer messages. The project follows a structured software development life cycle (SDLC) encompassing requirement analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and deployment phases. The database layer is managed by MySQL running on a XAMPP/WAMP server, while the application logic is handled by PHP scripting. The frontend interface is crafted using Bootstrap to ensure responsive design across various screen sizes and devices. Key features of the system include secure user authentication with session management, product search and category filtering, a realtime shopping cart, PayPal sandbox payment integration, order management, and an admin control panel. The system was subjected to rigorous unit, integration, and system testing to validate its functionality, performance, and security. The results demonstrate that Online Shopping Alphaware successfully meets all specified functional and non-functional requirements. The system provides a seamless shopping experience for users while offering administrators a powerful management interface. Future enhancements proposed include AI-powered product recommendations, mobile application development, chatbot integration, live order tracking, and OTP-based two-factor authentication.
