Abstract

Land registration in India has traditionally been a manual process managed by local authorities, leading to inefficiencies, delays, and frequent instances of fraud. According to the NITI Aayog 2023 report, nearly 67% of civil cases involve land disputes, affecting over 25% of court cases nationwide. This project introduces a Blockchain-AI system designed to make agricultural land registration secure, transparent, and tamper-proof, benefiting farmers, buyers, and government officials alike. Traditionally, ownership verification requires manual checks, site visits, and approvals, with records maintained mostly on paper, resulting in slow processing, errors, and vulnerability to manipulation. The proposed system addresses these challenges by combining blockchain technology with advanced AI-based fraud detection, ensuring immutable and decentralized storage of land records while detecting anomalies in transactions. Specifically, the system leverages Ligh tGBM, a high-accuracy gradient boosting algorithm, to analyze historical transaction data, identify suspicious patterns, and classify fraudulent and non-fraudulent requests. Light GBM’s robust learning capability enables precise detection of duplicate ownership claims, forged documents, and other irregularities, significantly reducing false positives and negatives compared to traditional methods. By integrating AI-driven fraud detection with blockchain recording, the platform automates verification, provides real-time alerts, and allows stakeholders to transparently track land ownership. Farmers can securely register land, buyers can validate authenticity, and authorities can efficiently monitor disputes.
